The "Western Balkan route" is the most common refugee and migration path towards the EU. After the dangerous sea passage of Greek-Turkish border which often ends in tragedy with shipwrecks and drowned people, the next part of the journey starts from the Greek-Macedonia border at Eidomeni. Crosses FYROM with next station at Prešov and ends at Berkasovo in Serbo-Croatian border. Then crosses Croatia and Hungary with final destination the northern European countries, mainly Germany.
