September 1990. First Gulf War. U.S. vs. Iraq. Kurdish families, refugees from Iraq in Athens. Greek government offered them a shelter in Cairo City Hotel, an old, decadent building at Vathis Square, downtown Athens. Leaving their homes, their roots, for these people seemed absurd, but ultimately it is not. The war has no country.
