In a less optimistic mood and with fewer decorations in the city streets, citizens of Athens are celebrating this year's Christmas. The days of shopping and consumption are long gone and this time the Greeks, without much money in their pockets, will search for the true spirit of Christmas. Βy unselfishly offering to the ones in real need, by trying to essentially communicate with others in their home and community, by adopting a stance and behavior that is focused on solidarity and communal spirit, in contrast to the selfishness and greed characterising contemporary Greek everyday culture. The spirit of this year's celebrations is the symbolism for the radical change that is much needed from Greek people in today's circumstances.
