Fifteen years after the war in 1999, Kosovo is still a partially recognised state. The population of Kosovo consists, mainly of muslim Albanians and christian orthodox Serbs. Relations between Kosovo's Serb and Albanian populations have been hostile since the rise of nationalism in the Balkans. Kosovo is under international supervision since it declared its independence from Serbia in 2008 as the Republic of Kosovo.
