Polaroids from Japan
photos: Christos Potsios
The fascination of the technique of Polaroids is based on the inescapable, on the continuous mutation of time from present to past. From the subject to the object, from the accuracy of the moment to the sweet nostalgia of once. The Polaroids are small sketches on a napkin. The Polaroids are cages of dreams.
In the Polaroids of photographer Christos Potsios taken in Japan, contours blur, dimensions get confused, colors are distorted. The geisha woman easily mutates into orchid, firefighters are placed in the yard of a giant dollhouse. The gardens secretly disappear, neon lights look like colorful ribbons floating in the night sky.
